SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes will face LAFC in the Round of 16 of the 2019 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Thursday, June 20. The match is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. and will be streamed live on ESPN+.
The Earthquakes advanced to the Round of 16 by defeating NorCal rivals Sacramento Republic FC 4-3 on Tuesday, June 11. The full match recap and highlights can be found here. LAFC advanced to the Round of 16 by earning a 3-0 road victory over Real Salt Lake on June 11.
The Quakes currently hold an 18-15 all-time record in the U.S. Open Cup, including a 9-8 record on the road. This will mark the first time that San Jose and LAFC meet in the competition and the fourth competitive meeting overall between the two California sides.
The winner would then host the Quarterfinals match against the winner of the Portland Timbers and LA Galaxy. The Timbers and Galaxy play their Round of 16 match on Wednesday, June 19.
