SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced today they will host Pride Night on June 15 when they take on FC Cincinnati at PayPal Park. Kickoff is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. PT.
Pride Night is presented by new multi-year partner Udemy, a leading online skills marketplace and learning platform. Udemy will be providing 5,000 Pride-themed socks to be gifted to fans as they enter the gates. The festivities include a national anthem performance from the Silicon Valley Gay Men’s Chorus and a community fair in the Epicenter with local LGBTQ+ organizations.
A Pride Community Ticket is available for fans to purchase, with 50 percent of all sales to be donated to nonprofit organizations: The Epicenter: Our Gente, the San Jose State Pride Center, TransFamilies of Silicon Valley and the Quakes Foundation. The Quakes will be partnering with the San Francisco Spikes, the second oldest LGBTQ+ soccer club in the country, to design special limited-edition scarves to be sold at the game, as well as online here. Proceeds from scarf sales will go to the SF Spikes and the Quakes Foundation. Additionally, the Quakes Team Store in PayPal Park will sell Pride-themed merchandise, with a new training top among the featured items.
“The San Jose Earthquakes are proud to partner with the SF Spikes in support of the LGBTQ+ community in Northern California and growing the game as they continue to expand access to soccer for all,” said Earthquakes VP of Community Relations Robert Davis.
“No matter who you are, how you identify, and who you love, soccer is for everyone,” said SF Spikes Vice President Zac Brown. “We are excited to partner with the San Jose Earthquakes in furthering soccer as an inclusive sport for fans and players at all levels of competition and to spread pride and community across the Bay Area.”
