SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes announced their theme nights for all home matches during the 2023 MLS regular season.
This year will see the return of fan favorites like College Night (4/15 vs. SKC), Portuguese Heritage Night (6/10 vs. PHI), Pride Night (6/17 vs. POR), presented by VHP, and Women’s Soccer Celebration (6/24 vs. STL), presented by Stanford Medicine. New in 2023 will be SJ Originals Night (4/1 vs. HOU), a celebration of the launch of an apparel line powered by the Quakes’ new culture brand, San Jose Originals. More information on apparel and wearables will be announced later.
The theme nights will begin with the home opener on March 4; a celebration of the 20-year anniversary of the team’s second MLS Cup. The festivities will include a halftime ceremony to honor the players and coaches that brought the second star to the Quakes’ kit, including Dwyane De Rosario, Jeff Agoos, and Brian Ching. Ten-thousand fans in attendance will receive a 2003 Championship Shersey, courtesy of Coca-Cola.
Mexican Heritage Night will return in 2023 with a special regular-season event at Levi’s Stadium (5/6 vs. LAFC), presented by Audi. As part of the largest Cinco De Mayo Party on the West Coast, the event will feature a pregame Fan Fest and meet-and-greet opportunities with former Mexico National Team players Jared Borgetti and Missael Espinoza, former Mexican American boxer Robert ‘The Ghost’ Guerrero, and popular Mexican singer-songwriter El Fantasma. All guests will take part in a live sit-down interactive interview moderated by Telemundo 48’s Carlos Yustis. The Fan Fest will also include lucha libre from Pro Wrestling Revolution, live music, food, and more. El Fantasma, with over 10 million followers on Facebook, will then perform at halftime.
The California Clasico at Stanford Stadium, presented by Intermedia, will serve as Military Appreciation Night (7/1 vs. LA). The annual event near the Fourth of July sees the heated rivalry between the Earthquakes and LA Galaxy renewed and features the Bay Area’s largest fireworks show postgame.
