Mario Anaya - San Jose Earthquakes

SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes Academy members Dillon Keane and Mario Anaya have been called up by U.S. Under-16 Boys’ National Team head coach Shaun Tsakiris for the 2017 International Dream Cup.

After three days of preparation in Carson, Calif. at the U.S. Soccer National Training Center, the team will fly to Tokyo and head to Sendai, the site of the 2017 U-16 International Dream Cup.

At the tournament, the U-16 BNT will face Guinea on June 14, followed by Japan and Netherlands on June 16 and June 18. The nation with the most points in the four-team group at the end of the tournament will be crowned 2017 champions.

Keane, 15, appeared in 28 games making 21 starts for the Quakes Academy during the 2016-17 season, scoring five goals. This is his first call up to the National Team.

“Dillon is a dynamic young player,” said Earthquakes academy head coach Paul Holocher. “He is a winger who thrives in the 1v1 moment because of his pace and confidence on the dribble. He has continued to grow his overall game this season and has improved his positional insight, decision-making and pressing.  It is a great opportunity for him to represent US Soccer and the San Jose Earthquakes at the international level and we are all very proud and excited for him.”

Anaya, 15, appeared in and started 26 games for the Quakes Academy this season. This is his third call-up to the National Team in 2017, having previously joined the U.S. Under-16 Boys’ National Team for training camp in Buenos Aires, Argentina in February and the Tournoi de Montaigu in Montaigua, France in April.
