NEWS: CEFCU Movie Night series returns to Earthquakes Stadium

SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Movie Night Series, presented by CEFCU, is returning to Earthquakes Stadium for the third consecutive year in 2020.


The free, family-friendly event brings films to the stadium’s large video board, giving people of all ages an opportunity to share a drive-in theatre experience while following the appropriate health and safety protocols related to COVID-19. The movies will be shown on five consecutive Friday evenings during the month of October.


The five films that will be featured in the Movie Night Series this fall include Abominable (Oct. 2), DespicableMe(Oct. 9), Trolls (Oct. 16), Monster House (Oct. 23), and Hotel Transylvania (Oct. 30).

Abominable is the journey of a young girl who embarks on a quest to return a Yeti back to its family. It was nominated as the Best Animated Feature at the Critics’ Choice Awards.


Despicable Me, the first movie of the successful motion picture franchise, grossed more than $540 million worldwide and received more than 40 award nominations, including Best Animated Film at the Golden Globes.


Trolls, premiering in 2016, is the first installment of the film series. It grossed more than $345 million worldwide and received an Academy Award nomination for Best Original Song for Justin Timberlake’s "Can't Stop the Feeling!"


Monster House is the spooky story of a neighborhood being terrorized by a haunted house during Halloween. Premiering in 2006, it received over 20 award nominations, including Best Animated Feature Film of the Year at the Oscars.


Released in 2012, Hotel Transylvania is an animated Halloween-themed comedy that stars the voices of Adam Sandler, Selena Gomez, Kevin James, and others. It grossed over $350 million worldwide and received a nomination for Best Animated Feature Film at the Golden Globes.


The Quakes Foundation will also be accepting monetary donations for Pledge 74, the club-wide community initiative to tackle food insecurity in the South Bay. For more information, please visit www.pledge74.org.
