SAN JOSE, Calif. – San Jose Earthquakes forward Cade Cowell has been selected to Major League Soccer’s Team of the Week for Week 34 after leading the Quakes to a 4-3 win over Real Salt Lake on Saturday. Cowell, 18, started and played 70 minutes, tallying a goal and an assist in the victory.
With the Quakes trailing 1-0, Cowell dribbled by his defender before playing a low pass across the front of goal for the tap-in equalizer.
In the 69th minute, with San Jose leading 2-1, Cowell received a long throw from goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski and dribbled half the length of the field before splitting two defenders and scoring with the outside of his right foot.
Cowell’s Team of the Week selection is his third this season and first since Week 3. Cowell was also one of four finalists for the MLS Player of the Week for the third time this season.
