MATCH PREVIEW: Quakes take on red-hot Dynamo in Houston on Saturday

Cristian Espinoza - Team of the Week

The San Jose Earthquakes are going to experience a complete 180 when they take on the Houston Dynamo this Saturday. After playing against the league’s coldest team in Portland, they now have to face one of its hottest in the Houston Dynamo, who are currently undefeated.

The Dynamo hold a 3-0-1 record this season and are one of just four teams yet to lose a single match. After opening the season with a home draw against Real Salt Lake, Houston has rattled off three victories in a row, including an impressive 4-1 dismantling of the Colorado Rapids on the road.

Houston has only played four matches to date due to their presence in the Concacaf Champions League. After defeating Guatemalan side C.D. Guastatoya 3-1 on aggregate in the Round of 16, Houston was bounced from the competition by Mexican side Tigres UANL 3-0 in the Quarterfinals.

The Dynamo did not play last weekend so the rest vs. rust argument will be in full effect. They likely would have preferred to return to the pitch immediately after their big victory over Colorado, but the extra week should help heal any lingering bumps and bruises.

The Texas club is led by Honduran forward Alberth Elis, who has two goals and a team-high three assists in four matches, as well as midfielder Memo Rodriguez and his team-best four goals. Rodriguez, a 23-year-old Homegrown Player, has been a terrific story thus far after starting just six matches last season.

The match kicks off at 12 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on Univision (national TV), 560 KSFO (English radio) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish radio).
