The San Jose Earthquakes will look to avenge the defeat to LAFC earlier this month when they head to SoCal on Sunday, presented by the Devcon.
Let’s dive into the Quakes’ upcoming opponent:
Standings
Los Angeles Football Club are currently mid-table in the Western Conference, sitting in sixth of 12 teams with a 5-5-3 record and +3 goal differential.
Recent Form
LAFC haven’t been the dominant side we’ve come to know but they are coming into form, winning two of their last three, including a 6-0 blasting of Vancouver on Wednesday.
Key Players
LAFC’s key player is Carlos Vela, the league’s MVP in 2019, but he’s battling a knee injury that has kept him out for several weeks. Fortunately for LA, they have Diego Rossi to fall back on. Rossi, recently called to the Uruguay National Team, has scored 11 goals in 13 games and is likely the frontrunner for the MVP award this season.
History
It’s not pretty for San Jose, who are still seeking their first win after five regular season meetings in the series. The matchup earlier this month on Sept. 2 finished 5-1 in favor of the Black and Gold, with the game also being played at Banc of California Stadium.
The match kicks off at 7:30 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California, KNBR 1050 and 1370 KZSF.
