The San Jose Earthquakes will look to rebound from Saturday’s defeat when they take on the Colorado Rapids this Wednesday, presented by the City of San Jose.

Let’s dive into the Quakes’ upcoming opponent:

Standings

The Rapids are currently smack dab in the middle of the Western Conference standings, sitting in sixth of 12 teams with a 4-4-4 record and 0 goal differential.

Recent Form

Colorado has won two of their last three matches (2-1-0), but also just two of their last 10 (2-4-4). Wednesday’s match will be their first at home since Sept. 9, having played each of the last three on the road.

Key Players

The Rapids rely heavily on 23-year-old forward Jonathan Lewis, who has scored a team-high four goals, and U.S. National Team midfielder Kellyn Acosta. Defensively, the club is led by Homegrown fullback Sam Vines and Ghanaian center back Lalas Abubakar.

History

The Quakes have historically fared well in Colorado, holding a 13-14-8 all-time record in the Centennial State. However, San Jose has found earning three points at Dick’s Sporting Goods Park harder of late, last winning in 2013. The elevation, a mile above sea level, provides a terrific home-field advantage for the Rapids.

The match kicks off at 6 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on NBC Sports California Plus, KNBR 1050 and 1370 KZSF.
