Ivan Valencia - GA Cup 2016

While the San Jose Earthquakes first team has a bye weekend during the international break, the Quakes Academy will be competing in a major tournament across the country.

The Quakes’ U-15s and U-17s will be heading to Kansas City, Missouri to play three matches at the Generation adidas Cup. Taking place at the headquarters of Sporting Kansas City’s USL affiliate, Swope Park Rangers, the Earthquakes’ 15s will play Real Salt Lake, the Houston Dynamo and Sporting Kansas City. The Quakes’ 17s will play Real Salt Lake, the Portland Timbers and Sporting Kansas City. Both teams will play one game on Friday, Saturday and Monday.

Having competed at a Generation adidas Cup earlier this year, the 17s finished first in the Premier Division’s Group C with an undefeated 2-0-1 record, ahead of Chivas Guadalajara, Columbus Crew SC and Orlando City SC. After falling to New York City in the semifinals, the Quakes defeated Philadelphia in the 3rd Place match.
