has listed
Nick Lima
as their Rookie of the Week in their weekly MLS Wrap.
The homegrown defender is continuing to turn heads in his first campaign in the big leagues and though the Quakes left Houston with a less-than-ideal result this weekend, there were more positives to take from Lima’s performance.
Lima took one shot, adding to his total of 12 so far this season, good for the most of any defenders in MLS. He also leads all rookies in MLS in minutes played (720 - every minute of 2017 so far.)
In a tough double-game week, the Castro Valley native had 3 fouls suffered and only one committed in the two games. Playing one in New England’s bitter cold, wind and rain, and the other in Houston’s signature heat and humidity made the consistent performance that much more impressive, allowing just one goal in open play in the matches.
Lima & the Quakes look to get back to winning ways when they head our for their third straight road game this weekend vs. expansion team Minnesota United FC.
