San Jose Earthquakes midfielder Lindo Mfeka has spent the entire 2017 season on loan with Reno 1868 FC, helping the USL side dominate the competition with a 16-6-7 overall record after starting the year 0-3-2. The Quakes’ 2017 second round pick from the University of South Florida has played well all year and can now add another feather to his cap, winning the USL Player of the Week.
On Wednesday night, Mfeka scored all three goals for Reno in a 3-0 win over OKC Energy FC. During the victory, 1868 FC claimed a playoff spot and set the USL single-season scoring record. Three days later, Mfeka tallied one goal and one assist in a 6-1 rout of Portland Timbers 2.
So far this season, the South Africa native has six goals and three assists in 18 starts, scoring on 43% of his shots taken. He has also completed more than 85% of his passes.
Reno’s next match is Saturday, Sept. 30 at 7 p.m. PT against Real Monarchs.
