The San Jose Earthquakes were well represented in this morning’s match between the United States U-23s and the Egypt U-23s in Spain.
Goalkeeper JT Marcinkowski and midfielder Jackson Yueill each played 45 minutes in the friendly, with Marcinkowski getting the start in net for the red, white and blue. It marked the first U-23 cap for both Marcinkowski and Yueill, who each have long histories with the USYNT system.
The Americans ultimately fell 2-0, allowing a goal in each half. The match, played at the Pinatar Arena in San Pedro del Pinatar, Spain, marks the beginning of the long road to qualify to the 2020 Summer Olympics in Tokyo. They will now turn their attention to the Netherlands U-23s on March 24.
