The San Jose Earthquakes offered season ticket holders a rare opportunity to win their 2018 tickets free and clear by participating in a Crossbar Challenge.
Season tickets holders that renewed by the Early Bird deadline and had already submitted their first payment for the 2018 season were given one shot to smack the crossbar with a ball from 25 yards out.
More than 80 people participated and four lucky (and talented) fans successfully completed the challenge. One fan, clad in a Batman t-shirt, even celebrated with the Danny Hoesen-esque ‘Are you not entertained?’ look he made famous following his game-winning strike against the LA Galaxy on July 10.
Kara Prentice and Anthony Galano each won their pair of tickets in section 112 and 119, respectively. David Cipolla was able to win all four of his seats, a pair in sections 101 and 131. The biggest winner, Karl-Heinz Lachnit, won his two seats in the first row of BMW club 31 – valued at nearly $6,000.
The contest allowed the four winners to save more than $10,000 between them and all were even reimbursed the first payment made towards the tickets. All season ticket holders who competed were treated to food and drink vouchers as well as a deeper discount on merchandise from the team store.
