Another FIFA Women's World Cup, another final for the United States Women's National Team. The Americans secured their place in yet another World Cup final after defeating England 2-1. Christen Press started things off in 10th minute when she connected with a cross on top of the six yard box and buried it into the back of the net. Ellen White spoiled the party nine minutes later with a calm finish off a cross that equalized the match for England. Alex Morgan got her name on the score sheet when she headed in the match-winner in the 31st minute. The second half saw no goals, but it did see some late drama. The 79th minute saw Englands' Ellen White go down inside the penalty area. Initially, there was no call from the referee, but after a VAR review, a penalty was awarded to England. Stephanie Houghton took the penalty only to have her shot saved by U.S. keeper, Alyssa Naeher. The United States was able to preserve their 2-1 lead and book their ticket to the final.
