The 2017 NCAA Men’s Soccer Championship bracket has been set, allowing the nation’s 48 best collegiate teams to go after the title. The top 16 teams each received a first-round bye, while the next 32 will compete for the right to continue. The tournament’s entire slate of first-round action will take place on Thursday, Nov. 16.
The Quakes will be well represented, with 11 former Academy players suiting up for teams in the competition.
Georgetown University: GK JT Marcinkowski
The BIG EAST-Champion Hoyas earned the No. 14 seed in the tournament and a first-round bye. Georgetown’s first taste of the action will be on Sunday against the winner of SMU and Central Arkansas.
Stanford University: F Amir Bashti and F Arda Bulut
The tourney’s No. 9 seed and Pac-12 Champions will sit the first round out with a bye, eventually hosting Thursday’s winner between Pacific and Cal State Fullerton on Sunday.
University of California: D Josh Morton, D Christopher Grey, GK Drake Callender, F Alonzo Del Mundo
With four Quakes Academy products in tow, the Golden Bears host the University of San Francisco on Thursday. No. 4 Louisville would then host the second-round matchup against the winner.
Wake Forest University: GK Dominic Peters
The ACC-Champion Demon Deacons earned the tourney’s No. 1 seed and a bye will host the winner of William and Mary and Columbia on Sunday.
Cal State Fullerton: F Rei Dorwart
The Big West-Champion Titans travel to Stockton to take on the University of the Pacific on Thursday, with the winner then taking on the No. 9 Stanford Cardinal on Sunday.
Southern Methodist University: M Bryce Clark
The American Conference-Champion Mustangs host Central Arkansas in the first round. The winner then travels to No. 14 Georgetown on Sunday.
University of San Francisco: GK Jay Roundtree
USF, the reigning WCC Champions, play their first-round contest Thursday at Cal. The winner then moves on to play No. 4 Louisville on Sunday.
University of New Hampshire: M Alex Valencia
The University of New Hampshire Wildcats host Fairfield on Thursday with the winner moving on to play No. 15 Dartmouth on Sunday.
