The Quakes have earned four points from their last two road matches: a 2-2 draw at Toronto FC (July 9) and a 3-2 win over the LA Galaxy (July 13). San Jose has lost just two of their last six matches away from home (1-2-3).
The Timbers have been red-hot since the start of June, holding a 3-0-3 record in that span including a 2-0-1 record at Providence Park. Portland’s defense has allowed two total goals in their last three home matches. The Timbers are led offensively by Jaroslaw Niezgoda and Sebastian Blanco, who have a team-high seven goals and a team-high seven assists, respectively.
Earthquakes striker Jeremy Ebobisse, who scored 28 goals over four and a half seasons with Portland (2017-21), currently ranks tied for third in MLS with 11 goals this season. Saturday will be his second match in Portland since being traded to San Jose last August.
San Jose has never won in 15 prior matches in Portland (0-11-4). The Quakes earned a 3-2 win in their only meeting this season at PayPal Park on May 18.
