You’re finally a Quakes Devotion Scarf recipient! Explain what it means to you to get this honor.
I’ve always been a booster of all things San Jose, and the Quakes have been a big part of that especially in these past four years. As they kicked off a new era at Avaya Stadium in 2015 I was beginning my new career as their local City Council Member. This honor symbolizes a great relationship that has grown between both the Quakes and myself, but more importantly between the Quakes and the City of San Jose.
Talk to us about your Quakes fandom. How long have you been cheering on the black & blue? What is your most memorable moment?
I grew up in San Jose, so I’ve been a fan since I was playing AYSO soccer in the early 80’s, and I solidified my fandom in the mid 90’s when they actually returned as the Clash. Nothing has been more exciting than opening up Avaya Stadium and finally welcoming back home our San Jose Earthquakes, although the first time I cheered with the Ultras and took off my shirt celebrating a goal was pretty exciting too!
Who is your favorite Quakes player and why?
Today it is hands down Chris Wondolowski, but I will never forget the pride of watching Landon Donovan in a Quakes jersey.
What would be your message to Quakes fans out there?
Some seasons are tougher than others but we are faithful fans and through all the years our Quakes have always been faithful to San Jose as well. Thank you Quakes and to my fellow fans I’ll see you next year!
