You’re officially a Quakes Devotion Scarf recipient! Explain what it means to you to get this honor?
"Receiving the Quakes Devotion Scarf came as quite a surprise. I feel deeply honored to be a recipient of the Devotion Scarf this year. I accept the scarf on behalf of the Quakes day of game 'Operations Crew,' the best operations crew in Major League Soccer. Receiving this scarf means that all the preparation, sacrifices, devotion and hard work we have done since the inception of the Clash/Quakes has been recognized. I shall wear the scarf proudly on cool nights in the tunnel."
Talk to us about your Quakes fandom. How long have you been cheering on the black & blue? What is your most memorable moment?
"I have been cheering the black and blue before they were the black and blue. I cheered the old red and white when my sons first started to play soccer but did not become an avid fan until the Clash inaugural game where the first MLS goal was scored. Troy Dayak's header to beat Miami in the 2001 playoffs that lead to our first Championship is one of my most memorable moments as well as was Wondo's recent four goal night when he broke the MLS scoring record."
Who is your favorite Quakes player and why?
"With so many great soccer players over the years this is difficult to answer, but being an ex-defender and goalkeeper I would have to choose 'The Beast,' Troy Dayak. His comeback from neck surgery to becoming the premier defender that helped the Quakes earn their first title was nothing short of a miracle. He epitomizes a strong work ethic, dedication, and teamwork. He is a great individual that treats all Quakes staff and fans with upmost respect. Both on and off the pitch, he is a person you admire, respect and want to be on your side."
What would be your message to Quakes fans out there?
"Everybody supports a winning team, but a true fan supports a team through thick and thin. We are fortunate to have a fantastic, true fan base, a fantastic facility and a fabulous team that has made a tremendous turn around this season. Keep supporting the Quakes and keep believing in the team. Come back next year and bring a friend with you."
