San Jose Earthquakes 19-year-old Homegrown Cade Cowell and club captain Jackson Yueill return to international action when the United States Men’s National Team face Mexico in the inaugural Allstate Continental Clásico on Wednesday evening in Glendale, Ariz.
Cowell, the third youngest player on the 23-man roster, comes from tallying two assists in the Quakes’ 3-0 victory over Sporting Kansas City last Saturday at PayPal Park. The Quakes forward spoke to media reporters on Tuesday about his return to the national team and building on his momentum from the weekend.
“Yeah, I hope to just keep that confidence going. There’s some good chemistry with the guys,” Cowell shared. “I know it’s a short trip, but I hope to just work as hard as possible and we all just have each other’s backs, so it shows a lot of confidence in that.”
The Ceres, Calif. native is supported by teammate Jackson Yueill, who has made 16 prior appearances with the U.S. and helped them win the 2021 Concacaf Gold Cup.
“Jackson Yueill is a good teammate and a good friend off the field too,” Cowell recognized. “We see each other every day, so it’s good to be with each other here and it represents a lot back in San Jose.”
Coverage for tonight’s match kicks off at 7 p.m. PT and will be broadcast live on TBS, Telemundo and Universo and streamed on HBO Max and Peacock.
