One of the most memorable giveaways in club history was Steven Lenhart Wig Night, presented by Supercuts. However, with Lenhart recovering from a concussion suffered one month earlier in a U.S. Open Cup match against Seattle, it looked like he might not even see the field. Fortunately for San Jose, he returned to the field as a substitute and scored a 98th-minute equalizer to break Chicago’s hearts. CSN California play-by-play man Dan Dibley was on the call: “It’s blond-haired bedlam at Buck Shaw!” Shea Salinas and Lenhart celebrated with wigs on, and the never-say-die legacy continued to grow.
