May 3, 2008: Buck Shaw's Debut
Professional soccer returned to the Bay Area in 2008 after a two-year hiatus. The expansion Earthquakes hosted their first home game of the season on April 12 at Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum before opening their primary venue on May 3 with a scoreless draw against FC Dallas. Two players from that match are still on San Jose’s roster today: Jason Hernandez and Shea Salinas.
