The San Jose Earthquakes are planning to build a new state-of-the-art soccer complex at the Santa Clara County Fairgrounds. The club has committed over $50 million in funding to build an eight-field complex that will include four public soccer fields, four fields for the Earthquakes’ academy, second team and professional team, along with a performance center for the Quakes. The complex is a joint partnership between the Earthquakes, the County of Santa Clara and the City of San Jose. The facility will be located at the southernmost edge of the County Fairgrounds along Umbarger Road.
On November 5, the Santa Clara Board of Supervisors will be voting to approve a term sheet, which outlines the terms of the project agreement between the City, County and Quakes.
The facility will be the crown jewel of soccer in Northern California, featuring eight high-quality fields that will support the thousands of both youth and adult soccer players in Santa Clara County.

Why is this complex important?
- With the current field shortage, our communities need safe, reliable fields for kids to play on.
- The City of San Jose is over 50 fields short of its demand right now.
- The area surrounding the Fairgrounds is in desperate need for a safe, recreational space. Currently, there are no walkable parks within a 3-mile radius.
- A premium, cutting-edge facility is essential to providing a space for quality development opportunities for youth players, amateurs and professionals alike.
- Coming off the Earthquakes’ 50th Anniversary celebration and the arrival of the 2026 World Cup, this complex would help cement Santa Clara County as one of the country’s top locations for soccer and create a strong connection between the Earthquakes and the hundreds of thousands of youth soccer players in the area.
