The U14 Academy (9-0-0) finished the first half of the season with convincing wins over De Anza FORCE (6-0) and San Mateo County Star (7-1) these past two weekends.
Against San Mateo at John Mise Park, Adonis Diaz and Jason Yanez each had two goals, and Jean-Julien Foe Nuphaus, Oscar Govea, and Fabian Rodriguez had one goal apiece. The dominant team also gave some newcomers a chance to shine.
The squad’s success has come of no surprise to coach Jeff Jenkins, who started the team at the club level two years ago. The former Quakes 00 PDA team has won back-to-back league championships, participated at Regional Championships, competed against other MLS Academy teams via Generation adidas Cup, and won the U15 Surf Cup championship in August.
“Everything we have done these past two seasons as a PDA team was to prepare them for the Development Academy,” Jenkins said.
The U14 group will travel to Carson this weekend to participate in the Development Academy Showcase at the StubHub Center. They will face FC Golden State (9-0-1), Chivas USA (4-3-2) on Saturday and the LA Galaxy (4-0-3) on Sunday.
