The U.S. Men’s YNT Summit Camp has concluded in Lakewood Ranch, Fla. The final match of the Summit Camp saw the U-17s face off against the U-16s, with the U-17s earning a 6-0 victory. The match included two San Jose Earthquakes Academy players: Gilbert Fuentes (U-17s) and Diego Luna (U-16s). Fuentes scored a goal from 25-yards out, and Luna was active in the midfield for the U-16s, showing an ability to slip around defenders to mount an attack.
San Jose Earthquakes Girls’ Academy midfielder Sophie Jones has been called up to the U.S. U-17 Women’s National Team for their January training camp in Bradenton, Fla. The camp will feature two international matches against Venezuela on Jan. 15 and Jan. 18. Both the USA and Venezuela are preparing for qualifying tournaments for the 2018 FIFA U17 Women’s World Cup in Uruguay.
