Mark Christie Named Finalist for Hudl’s ‘Innovator of the Year’
Fans can vote online to help Mark win more than $50,000 in equipment for the Quakes Academy.
SAN JOSE, Calif. – The Earthquakes Academy announced today that coach Mark Christie has been named a finalist in Hudl’s Innovator of the Year contest – a competition that honors those who empower innovation in club soccer. After reviewing nominees from across the country, SportsEngine, SKLZ, United Soccer Coaches and SOCCER.COM have joined Hudl in recognizing Mark as a leader in innovation.
Mark’s multiple nominations make it obvious this coach has had a big impact on club soccer in the Bay Area. With the help of tech companies and software engineers, Mark has merged coaching with technology to help create several mobile apps and platforms—like Column B and Edmodo online classes—to help athletes learn and improve. Mark is passionate about helping kids who might not have access to the best facilities, equipment and coaching, and runs a free program this fall called The Chance.
“Mark has an unrivaled passion for the youth sector, particularly the zone 1 age group,” said Earthquakes technical director Chris Leitch. “Understanding how each player learns, what motivates them and taking the time develop the next generation of Earthquakes players makes him an invaluable asset to the Academy.”
From now until June 21, fans can cast their votes to vote for Mark HERE. The winner will be announced on June 22 and will receive a grand prize, towards their organization, worth more than $50,000.
