On Sept. 10, the Quakes named Cole Baker as the side's honorary captain for their match against Western Conference rivals Seattle Sounders FC.
As the honorary captain, Baker arrived at Avaya Stadium on Friday, Sept. 9 to meet the Earthquakes players, attend practice and eat lunch with some of his future teammates.
On that Saturday, Baker became the first team signing under interim general manager Chris Leitch as he penned a one-day contract.
