SAN JOSE, Calif. – Earthquakes II fell to first-place Tacoma Defiance 2-0 on Friday evening at PayPal Park. Following tonight’s result, Quakes II sit in fifth place in the Western Conference, just three points below the playoff line.
The Defiance scored very early and very late, tallying goals in the first minute and four minutes into second-half stoppage time. Although Quakes II controlled large stretches of the match, the home side was unable to beat goalkeeper Wallis Lapsley.
Earthquakes II will now prepare to play St Louis CITY2 in their last of three straight home games on Sunday, Aug. 21. Kickoff from PayPal Park is scheduled for 7 p.m. PT and the match will be streamed live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
