TUKWILA, Wash. – Earthquakes II fell to Tacoma Defiance 3-2 on Sunday night at Starfire Sports Stadium in Tukwila, Wash. Tacoma Defiance opened the scoring in the 12th minute. Shortly after, Alex Chow found the equalizer in the 24th minute for his first goal of the season. The Defiance scored in the 62nd minute to go ahead once again.
Frank Daroma was issued his second yellow card of the match in the 72nd minute, forcing Tacoma Defiance to close out the match with ten men. Paul Rothrock hammered home a header off a Braudilio Rodrigues cross in the 78th minute for what proved to be the match winner for Tacoma Defiance. Quakes II’s Eduardo Blancas closed out the match by converting a stoppage time penalty kick to bring the score within one goal.
Earthquakes II will now prepare to face Whitecaps FC 2 on the road on Saturday, September 16. The match will kick off from National Soccer Development Centre in Vancouver, B.C. at 2 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on MLSNEXTPro.com.
