HERRIMAN, Utah – Earthquakes II drew Real Monarchs 1-1 in regulation and won 10-9 in a penalty shootout on Wednesday night at Zions Bank Stadium in Herriman, Utah. Eduardo Blancas opened the scoring in the 10th minute off a negative pass from Will Richmond. Earthquakes II went on to play most of the match with a man advantage after Fernando Delgado was ejected following a handball outside of the penalty area in the 12th minute.
Real Monarchs equalized in the 68th minute to send the match into penalty kicks at the end of regulation. Quakes II won the shootout 10-9 to earn two points on the road with a save from Emi Ochoa and two penalties from Eduardo Blancas.
Earthquakes II will now prepare to face Austin FC II at home on Saturday, August 12. The match will kick off from St. Mary’s College in Moraga, Calif. at 5 p.m. PT and will be streamed globally on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
