SAN JOSE, Calif. – Earthquakes II have announced they will face first-seed Colorado Rapids 2 in the 2023 MLS NEXT Pro Western Conference Semifinals on Sunday, Oct. 8. Kickoff from Dick’s Sporting Goods Park in Commerce City, Colo. is slated for 6:30 p.m. PT and will be streamed live on MLS Season Pass on the Apple TV app.
To qualify for the semifinal, sixth-seed Quakes II upset fifth-seed St. Louis CITY2 in a 2-0 quarterfinal victory last Sunday. Second-half goals from Will Richmond and Ousseni Bouda earned the club’s first-ever playoff win in their inaugural postseason appearance.
Earthquakes II finished the regular season with the second-best road record in the Western Conference (8-4-2). They finished just behind Colorado Rapids 2 (10-2-2), the 2023 regular season leaders and their eventual semifinal opponent. Quakes II look to earn their first victory over Rapids 2 this season after falling 2-0 at home in April and playing to a 2-2 draw on the road in July, eventually suffering a 4-2 defeat in penalty kicks.
