SAN JOSE, Calif. – Earthquakes II, the MLS NEXT Pro affiliate of the San Jose Earthquakes, will host rivals LAFC2 in the final regular season matchday on Sunday, Sept. 24, at PayPal Park. Kickoff for the Decision Day match is slated for 2 p.m. PT, with gates opening an hour prior, as Quakes II look to qualify for their first-ever playoffs.
Earthquakes II currently sit in seventh place in the 14-team Western Conference, the last playoff-qualifying spot in the conference. Advancing to the MLS NEXT Pro playoffs is possible with the following scenarios:
- Earthquakes II earns two or more points
- Earthquakes II loses in a penalty shootout + MNUFC2 loses in regulation
- Earthquakes II loses in a penalty shootout + Houston Dynamo 2 earns two or fewer points
- Houston Dynamo 2 earns one or fewer points
MLS NEXT Pro playoff seeding will be announced on Tuesday, Sept. 26, following the final matches Decision Day. Playoffs are set to begin the weekend of Sept. 28.
