SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes today announced their full preseason schedule. Among the highlights are a friendly contest against USL affiliate Reno 1868 FC, a Sin City showdown with the LA Galaxy and an extended training camp in Tucson, Arizona.
The Quakes will kick off their preseason with a match against the club’s U-18 Academy squad at the Earthquakes Training Facility on Saturday, Jan. 28. The annual tradition provides the team’s senior youth players with an opportunity to compete against professionals. The match is closed to the general public.
Two days later, the Earthquakes depart for a nine-day training camp in Tucson. During their stay in the desert, San Jose will take on Sporting Kansas City (Jan. 31 – 10 a.m. PT), Real Salt Lake (Feb. 3 – 10 a.m.) and Seattle Sounders FC (Feb. 7 – 9:30 a.m.). At least one match will be streamed live, with more details to be announced later.
For the second consecutive year, the Quakes will take on California Clasico rival LA Galaxy in Las Vegas, Nev., with the match scheduled for 7 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 11 at Cashman Field. Tickets are available via ticketfly and californiaclasico.com.
The following weekend, San Jose and Reno 1868 FC kick off their MLS-USL affiliation with a friendly at Greater Nevada Field in Reno on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 12:30 p.m. The game will mark the historic first match for Reno 1868 FC, who will play their inaugural season in USL in 2017. The match will also be the first time a major league team from any sport will play within the city limits of Reno.
The Quakes will then close out the 2017 preseason with a match against Sacramento Republic FC at Avaya Stadium on Saturday, Feb. 25 at 2 p.m. The match is free to Earthquakes season ticket holders, who must opt-in for their tickets on Earthquakes Account Manager before Feb. 1.
