SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes extended their unbeaten streak to three games with a 0-0 draw against FC Dallas at Avaya Stadium on Saturday night. Playing without four regular starters due to Copa America call-ups, San Jose was able to earn a point against a team coming off of three straight victories that sits just one point shy of the top of the league table.
Just prior to halftime, midfielder Shea Salinas beat his defender at the end-line before sending in a dangerous cross. The pass was blocked and rolled out to Matias Perez Garcia, who quickly laid the ball off to Chad Barrett. Barrett’s first-timed shot forced a save by goalkeeper Chris Seitz.
In the 57th minute, excellent link-up play between Perez Garcia and Barrett once again led to a chance in front of net. Barrett’s pass across the box rolled through several on-looking defenders before Perez Garcia’s left-footed strike tailed wide of the goal.
The two teams traded late-game scoring opportunities, but neither were able to break the deadlock.
San Jose hits the road to take on the Portland Timbers on Wednesday, June 1 at 7:30 p.m. The match will be broadcast live on CSN California, 1590 KLIV (English) and 1370 KZSF (Spanish).
