SAN JOSE, Calif. – The San Jose Earthquakes continued preparations for the 2016 regular season with a 8-0 victory against San Francisco Stompers FC at Avaya Stadium on Saturday morning. The match marked the team’s second preseason contest of 2016, after taking on the Quakes U-18 Academy at Avaya Stadium on Wednesday night.
San Jose broke the deadlock just moments before halftime. Forward Quincy Amarikwa had a shot from distance, which was parried by the keeper, but midfielder Tommy Thompson was there to head home the rebound.
The Quakes replaced all 11 starters at halftime and proceeded to tack on several more goals in the second half. Forward Adam Jahn led the way with four goals, while Patrick Hodan, Cordell Cato and Chad Barrett each added another. Barrett also had four assists.
The Earthquakes depart for a weeklong training camp in Tucson, Arizona on Monday, February 1. The team’s next match is a closed-door scrimmage on Wednesday, February 3 against the New England Revolution.
