The San Jose Earthquakes announced today that they have loaned rookie defender/midfielder Justin Morrow to FC Tampa Bay Rowdies of the USSF D-2 effective immediately.
Morrow, who can be recalled to San Jose at any time per conditions of the loan agreement, will join his Rowdies teammates in preparation for the USSF D-2 side’s remaining five regular season games. Morrow could make his Rowdies debut on Saturday, Sept. 11 when FC Tampa Bay takes on the Rochester Rhinos.
Morrow has appeared in two regular season matches for the Quakes this year and appeared in two exhibitions and one US Open Cup play-in game. He scored a goal in overtime of the Open Cup match. Morrow was drafted 28th overall in the second round of the 2010 MLS SuperDraft. He played 89 matches and scored seven goals and notched seven assists as a wide midfielder and defender for Notre Dame. He was named All-Big East Second Team in 2009 after starting all 23 games and notching two goals and an assist, while serving as team captain. He helped the Fighting Irish to four NCAA appearances in his career.
